When going heavy on the eyes, go lighter on the lips (and vice versa). You don't want to go overboard and look like Tammy Faye Baker or a hooker or something. Plus, when you play up only one of those two assets, you'll bring out your beauty more rather than looking like a circus clown.
It's better to wear a nude lipgloss in a colour such as ';coral';. You either make one or the other bold for example if you're wearing a bright red lipstick only wear mascara and vise versa.

It's all about personal preference, but if you're using a lot of black and grays, in my opinion a nude lip would be better.
